ILUMI4D

Four-dimensional luminosity and interaction-region simulation

ILUMI4D is the first major application of the REACT4D framework. It investigates the spatial and temporal structure of particle collisions and their observable consequences, with particular emphasis on luminosity, vertex distributions, beam geometry and timing.

Scientific scope

ILUMI4D treats the interaction region as a four-dimensional object, combining the spatial coordinates of the collision with its evolution in time.

Beam and collision geometry

Investigation of crossing angles, crab crossing, asymmetric configurations, bunch-length effects and the resulting collision geometry.

Vertex distributions

Study of the spatial distribution and motion of interaction vertices and their relationship to the underlying collision dynamics.

Luminosity

Numerical evaluation of luminosity and luminosity related observables for different beam configurations and collision scenarios.

Timing and space-time observables

Investigation of correlations between vertex position, collision time and detector timing measurements.

Studies & Results

The study archive will grow as the ILUMI4D investigation develops. Each study is organized around a scientific question and can contain multiple physical cases, simulations and results.

Study 01 — Ideal Crab Cavity

Investigation of the four-dimensional collision structure for ideal crab-crossing configurations, including symmetric and asymmetric crab configurations, different bunch-length combinations, and the influence of the hourglass effect.
